Project goals
King’s College partnered with Synergis for Fusion 360 training to learn best practices for incorporating Fusion 360 education into their existing engineering program, and educators wanted to better learn the software themselves to provide better instruction related to it. The end goal was to be comfortable enough using Fusion 360 that they could instruct students to be able to design a custom part and fabricate it using Fusion 360 and their CNC machine.
Solution
The solution was Autodesk Fusion 360 educational training, provided by Synergis Application Consultant Jim Swain over the course of two days. The intent of the training was to provide an overview of Autodesk Fusion 360 while showing best practices for including it in CAD/CAM education programs.
Business outcome
After completing training, King’s College was able to start including Fusion 360 software as part of course instruction. Additionally, students benefitted by learning more about best practices for mechanical design concepts with one of today’s leading software packages, giving them helpful, real-world experience to use upon graduating.
Conclusion
Partnering with Synergis allowed King’s College to expand their existing engineering curriculum to include additional tools. After providing Fusion 360 training to the engineering department, engineering students were able to create CAD models for a complex part, set up the stock for machining, select the right tools from the Fusion 360 tool library, and generate the tool path to remove the material.
