Partnership Allows Manufacturer to Perform at Highest Level

Over a decade ago, Rockland consolidated its engineering and drafting tools into a unified system to enhance efficiency. By implementing Autodesk Inventor and Vault Basic and providing comprehensive team training, they overcame resource segregation and improved collaboration. Ongoing efforts have ensured their software, file storage, and training needs are consistently met.

Customer challenge

The partnership between Rockland and Synergis began over ten years ago when Rockland needed to consolidate a variety of engineering and drafting platforms into one single package. Rockland Manufacturing was comprised of teammates from various industries and backgrounds, each with their own preferences for CAD and analysis tools. As Rockland grew, their engineering resources became segregated and limited to their abilities in the CAD platform they were trained in. Synergis first partnered with Rockland over ten years ago to upgrade and install Autodesk Inventor and Vault Basic on all engineering computers and included training the entire Rockland engineering team on Autodesk Inventor and Vault best practices. Over the years Synergis has continuously supported Rockland with setup and maintenance of current software, file storage, and training.

Project goals

To keep up with their company’s growth, Rockland recently approached Synergis with a need for enhanced document management. Additional revision control, clearer design history, enhanced tools for manufacturing, and more efficient communication with their other business systems were needed as Rockland outgrew their previous engineering processes and systems.

Solution

The solution to Rockland’s list of needs was Autodesk Vault Professional. After careful planning, the Synergis team migrated all Rockland’s files onto a new server and installed Vault Professional for engineering. This upgrade required a coordinated effort between both teams to setup the new server, upgrade engineering PCs, and train users on new the new processes. Throughout the project, from migration, through installation and training, Synergis kept the entire Rockland team functioning at one hundred percent with zero down time. Administrative and user trainings were executed in small groups, and within one week the entire Rockland engineering team was proficient and working in Vault Professional.

Business outcome

Rockland Manufacturing Company now has the most up to date data management tools that facilitate responsible future growth. Enhanced processes, increased revision control, streamlined communication, and better ERP tools drive both quality and productivity at Rockland. The teams at Synergis and Rockland continue an open dialog about our industries and how to best utilize the Autodesk products to grow in a demanding and dynamic environment. According to Don Turner, Engineering Manager at Rockland, the partnership between Rockland and Synergis has helped them perform at the highest levels over the last decade and will continue to do so in the future.
